Compass, a company started in 2003, received a 2004 Innovation Award from the Juvenile Products Manufacturing Association (JPMA) last week at the annual JPMA Show in Dallas, Texas. The award was for the Compass B500, the first foldable belt positioning booster car seat! This product began shipping in January 2004 and has already achieved distribution of over 150 outlets.

Automobile harnesses are designed for adults and do not appropriately position lap belts and shoulder belts on young children. As a result, many states including Ohio have increased the age and weight requirements children must stay in child restraints. Belt positioning boosters have emerged as parent’s choice for this need since they use the auto’s own harness system and are easy to install.
